Midlake

Midlake! That is what the band is called! AND THE SONG IS CALLED ROSCOE! The reason for my excitement is simple. I heard this incredible song on "Left of Center" on Sirius a few months ago. I meant to write down who the band was, but I completely forgot... then changed station... which erased my playback list. Anyways... I have emailed the DJ's on left of center, asked friends, and searched the web (all in vain) trying to find this song. Sure enough, when I had lost all hope... The song plays again on "Left of Center". I was staring at my satellite radio, completely dumbfounded, that my search had finally ended.

Roscoe is a remake of an old song. I have to be honest, I have no idea who originally wrote it, but I'm really not concerned with that, because Midlake's version does it for me. It is the first track on their album, The Trials of Van Occupanther. Not only is the first song good, but the entire album keeps pace. I am so happy that I found out who sang this song because this album is a keeper. A few of my other favorites are Head Home, Young Bride, and We Gathered in Spring.
If you are a fan of mellow bands with a lot of vocal harmonizing you will love this album.

I am a huge fan of Midlake. Roscoe is not a remake. It is their song; they wrote it. Based out of Denton, Texas. The album is called The Trials of Van Occpanther. It is excellent and contains other great songs. Go to YouTube to check out of some of the videos. The Chemical Brothers also used them in their last album out last year. The band is working on their new CD. I saw them in concert at a small pub in Lawrence, Kansas.

PS. I love Sirius!

aaaah... I see. That would explain why I couldn't figure out who wrote it. HA! Yes, they are very good.

I'll fix that
